Intentional Equity Through Wellness
I aim to curate experiences that nurture both mental and physical wellness. My experience and training in public health and medicine are the foundations of my work, fueled by the embodiment of the pillars of yoga through Hatha, Rocket, and Yoga Sculpt certifications.
As a medical student at Howard University College of Medicine, yoga instructor, and lifelong learner currently residing in Washington, DC, I consistently witness and explore the ways in which mental, physical, and spiritual health are intricately connected. Systemic oppression’s impact on stress and embodiment is heavily documented and, among medical professionals, can lead to both burnout and detrimental impacts on patients (West et al, 2018). Mindfulness practices have been shown to benefit both medical providers and patients as an intervention to break this cycle (Bond et al, 2013).
Throughout my career, I aim to make mindfulness practices more easily accessible to all communities in order to build communities rooted in equity and holistic well-being.
I have seen powerful transformations when mindfulness, empathy, and intention are integrated into wellness services, whether that be in a clinic, a studio, or a community park, and I hope to continue to cultivate experiences to do just that.
